January 15, 2014 - Oulu, Finland — Discendum, a Finnish member of the Mozilla Open Badges community, has launched version 1.0 of the Open Badge Factory service.
Open Badge Factory (OBF) is a cloud-based service that offers powerful tools for creating, managing and issuing badges. OBF offers an extensive reporting system through which badge issuing organizations can monitor the way their badges are used. OBF is also fostering a community where organizations can share and develop badges amongst themselves.
The Open Badge Factory development project has received financing from the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation, Tekes. We also have a number of partners participating in the project with us: Raisoft Oy, IlonaIT, Kokkola University Consortium Chydenius and OK Study Centre. Discendum is responsible for the software development of OBF as well as the coordination of the project.
Discendum welcomes co-operation with organizations that are able to support the OBF user community or offer collaboration on technological developments for different systems.
Open Badge Factory is open for piloting from January 15 to the end of December 2014. The current version can be used for free and will be developed further according to feedback given by the user community. If you want to participate in the pilot and find out how OBF can help your organization to succeed, visit https://openbadgefactory.com and sign up!
