OnlineCollege.org recently just posted a story about covet-worthy badges that is worth a look. “Even though badges are still in their infancy, a class of them have emerged or are in development that will serve as bona fides for valuable skills and expertise,” they write.
It’s great to see the diversity of badges featured. We should note that Mozilla, which created the technical infrastructure that makes badges from different issuers interoperable, provides no value judgements around badges in the open ecosystem.
Badge content and curriculum (not to mention visual design) is completely determined by badge issuing organizations and individuals. We’re excited to see widespread adoption of Open Badges, 45K of which have been issued as of this week!
